This was my roommate's first trip to Burning Man. My DSLR as well. I think she had a better time. This shot was on a trampoline with a handheld flash. I think Canon's do a bang-up job shooting into the sun.
Ahoy!
If you haven't been, Burning Man is a photographers nirvana. People at their happiest/weirdest (see above), surreal, amazingly lit backdrops, transcendent art and performance. You really have to try hard (and I did) to take crap photos.
The Deep End
For example, the above shot basically came out of my camera like that. I was dancing with 1000 or so folk and noticed the sun flaring from between the people on the platform so I offhandedly shot.
Big Rig Jig
The art really does all the work for you as well. In this case, these were two semi-trailers intertwined and twisting into the sky. You could also climb up in them and experience a 'garden' of artificial plants.
